Bastau Training Program

The duration of training is 1 month, at least 28 calendar days. The duration of practical training in group is 80 hours, the training is conducted by a business coach in an interactive form using innovative teaching methods. Individual training includes consulting on preparing a business plan or developing a business project. The total duration of training is no more than 120 hours per group.

The basic framework for the development of training is 12 modules, that are aimed at providing participants with the knowledge about tax regimes, legislation, marketing fundamentals, principles of the formation of agricultural cooperatives, starting a business that are most in demand.

In addition,  the experts provide assistance in registration as an individual entrepreneur (farm, agricultural cooperative), development of a business plan and  obtaining financing during training consultations.

Module 1. Introduction.

Psychology of business thinking

Bastau project goals and objectives

Fundamentals of the psychology of entrepreneurship. Diagnostics of the project participant's psychotype

Module 2. Business idea choice. Market research

Analysis of profitability of a business idea, analysis of the market for the sale of goods / services

Module 3. Fundamentals of Marketing

Marketing strategy, segmentation, defining its own niche in the market, practical marketing research.

Module 4.  Markets

Types of markets. Market capacity, target audience needs analysis

Module 5. Characteristics of taxation regimes

Types of tax regimes: choice of the optimal tax regime, special tax regime, tax regimes for peasant / private farms. Types of tax reporting.

Module 6. State support measures for start-ups, SMEs, agribusiness 

SME state support instruments - Program for the Development of Productive Employment and Mass Entrepreneurship, Business Roadmap 2020, Agribusiness 2017-2021, etc. (microcredit, guarantee, subsidy)

Module 7. Business Plan Fundamentals

Concept of a business plan, the structure of business plan (organizational, marketing, financial sections), sections of a business plan (market analysis, goal and objectives of a business plan, marketing strategy), analysis of the entrepreneur resources

Module 8. Financial model, feasibility study of a business project

Financial literacy, basic concepts of the financial model of a business plan. Project profitability, revenue plan, cash flow, break-even point

Module 9. Fundamentals of agricultural cooperation

Types of agricultural cooperation, support tools for agricultural cooperation. Agricultural cooperation on the basis of private farms

Module 10. Business Legal Support

Permit system: permits, licenses, rules and standards governing the sphere of SMEs. Rules, basics of drafting basic legal documents (contracts, agreements, etc.)

Module 11. Fundamentals of Electronic Services for Business

E-government portals, a single e-gov window, a single government procurement portal, etc.

Module12. Business idea choice

Fundamentals of lending for SMEs. Stages of obtaining microcredit.
Basics of public speaking, negotiation skills, public speaking, presentation skills (self-presentation).

The training program, tested in the framework of the Bastau pilot project in 2016, is based on the case approach. The training program approved and agreed with the Customer and is developed to the needs of the participants.

The sequence of training modules is based on the complexity of perception from simple to more complex, as well as the structure of the business plan. At the same time, when the participants study Business idea choice module, they can consolidate practical knowledge in accordance with the proposed business peculiarities in a specially designed workbook. Each of the modules, including the state support measures module, is important for the participant.

Within the framework of the Business project protection module, a participant has the opportunity of psychological preparation for further protection within the framework of a regional commission at regional branch of the Atameken NCE.

Practical training has two goals:

1) increase the practical knowledge and skills of new entrepreneur;

2) development of a business plan for further financing of the project.

The process of training and individual consultations is conducted in the Kazakh and Russian languages in an interactive format. The schedule of individual consultations is formed by the district project coordinator.

Peculiarities of the project training methodology

The first day is an introductory one, we describe the objectives of the program, introduce the mission and ideology of the Atameken NCE RK, encourage and motivate participation in the project.

The modules of the first ten days are common to everyone (marketing, business idea choice, etc.), and project participant are divided into groups on the second day. Approximately 60-80 per cent of the participants present their idea, people who have no idea can present themselves and their skills.

From the 10th day after studying all general modules, each student begins to work at his own business project.

The experts hold consultations to provide detailed and individual study of issues that go beyond the format and time of basic training, a consultation lasts 6 hours.
